INTERMODAL TRANSPORTATION: Expanding beyond its niche

  • Years ago, intermodal movements were only cost and service effective on freight movements of 1500 miles and up. But intermodal Transportation has gone through a renaissance over the last decade and this number is now well below 1000 miles. Still, for many companies, intermodal transportation remains a niche component of their operations with intermodal revenues representing about 3% of the total North American freight spend. Is this about to change? Is your company making effective use of intermodal transportation as part of its procurement or customer fulfillment operations. This panel will feature a senior intermodal executive from one of Canada’s class 1 railways, one of Canada’s largest intermodal shippers, an executive from North America’s largest Intermodal Marketing Company (IMC) and an executive with one of Canada’s largest domestic LTL operations.
