Alan Hooper is a Research Associate with the American Transportation Research Institute (ATRI), the not-for-profit research arm of the trucking industry. ATRI conducts transportation research with an emphasis on the trucking industry’s essential role in a safe, efficient, and viable transportation system.
Mr. Hooper is the research lead for several critical trucking industry studies, including ATRI’s annual Operational Costs of Trucking, Top Industry Issues, and Cost of Congestion analyses. He is also a key member of ATRI’s Freight Performance Measures program, leveraging a unique truck GPS data set to study freight mobility and reliability throughout the United States.
Alan has been with ATRI since 2017. Prior to that, he worked as an economic consultant for a boutique consulting firm in California. Mr. Hooper holds a Bachelor and Master of Arts in Economics from Clemson University.
