Mark Hong is the Vice President of Strategy and Analytics for C.H. Robinson’s largest division, North America Surface Transportation. Mark’s team brings together the core functions of finance, analytics, strategic planning, project management, R&D and technology prioritization to ensure the division has the tools and resources needed for successful planning, execution and innovation within our business.
Mark joined C.H. Robinson in 2003 as director of Business Development responsible for merger and acquisition (M&A) activities. In addition to M&A, he spent much of his first year working on opening C.H. Robinson’s Global Forwarding business in Asia and obtaining the company’s Chinese NVOCC license. That license, issued in early 2004, was the first license issued to a Wholly Owned Foreign Enterprise in China. At that time, Mark opened C.H. Robinson China and was promoted to managing director of the Asia region. He spent the next nine years (2004 – 2013) in Shanghai and Hong Kong building C.H. Robinson Asia to more than 1,000 highly talented employees in 30 locations across 8 countries in Asia and expanding the suite of services.
Mark relocated back to Minnesota in mid-2013 as the Director of North America Surface Transportation leading the company’s business in Canada and emerging services including Domestic Air, Reverse Logistics and Special Handling. In 2016, he was promoted to Vice President and in 2017, he was promoted to his current role as Vice President of Strategy and Analytics, North American Surface Transportation. Prior to joining C.H. Robinson, Mark worked for Arthur Andersen and for Convergent Capital Partners.
